Brief History: Edward Dalton never wanted to become a vampire. As a matter of fact, he was pretty much disgusted by the whole darn thing. While others were allured by the immortality, the imperviousness, the sustenance of blood and nothing more, Edward wanted no part in it but he didn’t have a choice in the matter. His brother Frank had other plans. he betrayed him. For years the epidemic spread and the human race dwindled.
2019, the vampires have usurped their position as a superior race and began to capture the humans, harvesting them for their blood. Blood that was sold in stores, on street corners, mixed in with common household beverages like coffee or tea, bottled like fine wine.
He took a personal stand against it. Edward drank the blood of animals; namely pigs and he pitied the humans. He has worked for a pharmaceutical company as a hematologist, dedicating his work to developing a blood substitute that would feed his race. He has been thus far unsuccessful and the fate of the world seems to be resting on his very shoulders; the extinction of the human race, the survival of his own... and to make matters worse a new discovery has been revealed to what happens when one of his kind is deprived of blood for days on end. They call them the “sub-siders.”
Sub-siders are vicious, feral vampires who have lost all “human” capacity of thought, reasoning, logic and have become literally blood-thirsty animals with one motive in mind: to feed. They are highly aggressive, very strong and quick- much faster than a normal human or vampire. They are hairless creatures with wings instead of arms, pointed ears and teeth, leathery, grey hides and talon-like claws. The name "sub-siders" is coined because these creatures often lurk even further in the darkness then vampires. They live underground, in the subways, tunnels, sewers. They issolate themselves from soceity and when they encounter each other in the depths, there is conflict. Self-feeding or feeding on vampire blood will hasten the process into becoming one of these creatures. (Because Edward chooses to feed on pig blood and feeds less often then other vampires, his ears are often more pointed- like the sub-siders and is more prone to falling into such a feral state.)
List of Abilities/Powers: Edward is a Vampire, so he is undead. He can live solely on human or animal blood. Some of his powers are immortality, healing, and basic imperviousness to all except the following weaponry/ailments; stakes, werewolf blood, sunlight, UV rays, dismemberment and death by decapitation. Blood depravation actually increases strength and agility but significantly decreases mental capacity and cognitive function.
